Strike up the band.
March is observed as Music in Our Schools Month, when emphasis is placed on the learning and performing of music by kids across the nation. Founded over 30 years ago in New York State by the National Association for Music Education, MIOSM not only highlights the importance of music for children, but this year’s theme, All Music All People, also reminds us that access to music education should be universal. And that Education is one fo the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, part of the blueprint for saving the planet.
Music can do amazing things, especially for developing children. It can help them heal and grow. Just ask blind 8-year-old Everlyse, whose viral video shows that singing can help her through her doctor appointments.
